// Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of North Carolina, Ann’s photographic adventure began seven years ago with a simple click of her camera. Since graduating from the prestigious New York Institute of Photography, she’s expanded her artistic palette, venturing beyond landscapes to explore the captivating realms of macro, abstract and composite photography. Today, we’re thrilled to share some of her mesmerising floral macro images, each revealing a deeper, more enchanting narrative.

Ann’s lens captures moments that whisper untold stories. Recognition of her talent has come in various forms, including participation in the 2023 North Carolina exhibit “Eye of the Beholder” and inclusion in the prestigious Appalachian Mountain Photo Exhibit at the Turchin Gallery. Her work has even crossed borders, having been exhibited internationally and on various online platforms (including with a previous feature in this magazine).

What draws you to the arts?

“Any kind of art is rooted in creativity. I am always looking for sparks to feed that fire, and I get that from going to museums, seeing sculptures at botanical gardens or even doing a craft project at home. It all expands my thinking of what is possible.”

What do you like best about this photo project?

“I love the affirmation of the wealth of life and beauty that we are all surrounded with.”

At the heart of Ann’s mesmerising floral series is a poignant story that transcends the mere beauty of the flowers. Watching her dear friend’s battle against stage 4 cancer, Ann was moved by the sheer courage and resilience she witnessed. This profound experience ignited a creative spark within Ann, prompting a soul-stirring journey through the lens of her camera. Paying homage to the fragile yet resilient nature of life, she embarked on a quest to immortalise the small wonders that abound in the world around us.

With an artist’s eye and a heart full of compassion, Ann delved into the realm of macro photography, delicately capturing the intricate details and ethereal essence of everyday flora. Every petal, every delicate curve became a testament to the resilience and beauty that flourishes even in the face of adversity.

Through her lens, Ann invites us to pause, to marvel at the delicate dance of light and shadow, to find solace in the quiet elegance of nature’s creations. In each photograph there is a whispered reminder of the wondrous beauty that surrounds us, if only we take the time to truly see.
